Great River Green Gathering 2009

Great River Green Gathering 2009!

Save the dates! August 20-23, 2009

Come gather with Greens from Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota & Michigan on the bluffs overlooking the confluence of the Wisconsin & Mississippi Rivers

Where: Wyalusing State Park (See directions below)

Stay at the indoor group camping or reserve your own camp site 500 feet above the confluence of the Mississippi and Wisconsin Rivers. $25-$50 per person includes registration, two or three nights camping, vegan breakfasts & lunches Friday & Saturday & breakfast on Sunday. (Please note: Wisconsin State Park vehicle admission stickers are required for each car.) On-your-own potlucks for dinner every night with access to the kitchen facilities for cooking and there will be plenty of people willing to share! Bonfire each night at dusk (Please note: park rules require the use of local firewood to prevent the spread of invasive species - don't bring your own firewood.)

Indoor group camping includes shared bathrooms with modern showers and toilets & bunk bed lodging. Four separate bunk buildings can hold up to 25 sleepers each. Lodge includes large institutional kitchen facilities & two large meeting areas. The park offers hiking to caves and Indian burial mounds as well as star gazing, canoeing, bird watching, volleyball (how about a state v. state challenge?) and/or relaxing by the river. Fire pit area has bench seating.

There will be for fun for the whole family! This gathering is meant to have more free time than "meetings" and we openly encourage Greens with children to come and expect plenty of play time. Children 17 and under are half price, children 5 and under are free of charge (please indicate children when registering). Games and activities will be organized on site among interested parties.

Pets are not allowed at the Wyalusing Indoor Group Camp or Lodge, but are okay in your own tent camping area.

SCHEDULE: Most of the time is for having fun - in groups or on your own. There will be ample opportunity for learning, networking, fun and discussions about strategies for Green Party growth and development, and groups and meetings for those interested will be arranged on site.

We are keeping costs to you as low as possible, so we need your help! We will need everyone to chip in somewhere - either with food preparations (especially with the vegan meals!), meal clean up, and especially cleaning the buildings before the Sunday checkout time.

DIRECTIONS: Wyalusing State Park is located just south of Prairie du Chien, WI. Take County C west, off Hwy 18/35 for two miles and turn south (right) on County Hwy X for 3/4 mile. Park entrance is on your right.

Oshkosh - Tony Palmeri & Bob Poeschl Elected to Oshkosh Common Council

Support Pete Karas for Mayor of Racine

Informal local polls show that Pete Karas is one of three candidates (out of 11) likely to do well in the April 7th primary for Mayor of Racine, Wisconsin, a city of 80,000. The top two candidates will advance to a head-to-head election in May.

Pete was elected 3 times to serve on the Racine City Council. He is a great Green leader with intelligence, energy, and experience.

His campaign for clean, publicly-owned power, green jobs and community-based economics would transform Racine into a model for future-focused development.

Will you make a donation to Pete's campaign?

For every $25 you give, his campaign can buy 200 pieces of literature.

Pete is a great Green leader with integrity, intelligence and experience. We are proud to support him and hope you do too.
